COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is designed for ambitious 9th-grade students who want to maximize their chances of admission to the most selective colleges and universities in the United States, including institutions such as Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Yale University, and other highly selective schools.

The course addresses a common problem: many students begin thinking seriously about college admissions too late. Competitive admissions outcomes are often built over four years through academic performance, extracurricular involvement, leadership development, personal growth, and strategic planning. Students who start in 9th grade have significantly more time to explore interests, build achievements, and develop a compelling profile.

By the end of the course, students will understand how selective admissions work, how to plan their high school years strategically, how to develop meaningful extracurricular activities, how to build strong academic habits, and how to position themselves for future college applications.

ASSUMPTIONS & SCOPE

Target audience level: 9th-grade students and families.

The course assumes students are entering or currently in their freshman year of high school and have little knowledge of the college admissions process.

This course focuses on long-term preparation and planning. It does not focus on writing application essays, completing financial aid forms, or preparing final applications, since those activities occur later in high school.
