COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is designed for 11th-grade students who have already built a strong academic and extracurricular foundation during 9th and 10th grade and are now entering the most important year of the college admissions process.

Junior year is often considered the single most influential year in highly selective college admissions. It is typically the final full academic year colleges evaluate, the year when leadership positions often peak, the year of standardized testing, and the year when students begin building their college list and preparing for applications.

This course helps students transition from preparation to execution. Rather than exploring interests or building foundations, students focus on demonstrating excellence, impact, intellectual engagement, and readiness for college-level opportunities.

By the end of the course, students will have a clear college strategy, a refined academic and extracurricular profile, a targeted summer plan, and a roadmap for entering senior year prepared for competitive college applications.

ASSUMPTIONS & SCOPE

Target audience level: 11th-grade students.

This course assumes students have already:

• Established strong academic habits
• Participated in meaningful extracurricular activities
• Begun identifying academic and career interests
• Pursued leadership and enrichment opportunities

This course intentionally does not focus on:

• Completing college applications
• Writing final application essays
• Financial aid applications
• Final college enrollment decisions

Instead, it focuses on:

• Maximizing junior-year performance
• Demonstrating leadership and impact
• Standardized testing strategy
• College research and planning
• Summer planning before senior year
• Preparing for the application process
